Update your calendars and get ready for a super term!!

🍁Autumn IVs🍁 Amidst the novice recruitment campaign, Johns entered a men’s and women’s senior 4. The women were off to a flying start, demolishing GTC B but unfortunately missing out to Teddy Hall although they pushed them the whole way. The Men were leading Mansfield until a small crash with a house boat. They were able to bring it back to within half a length, an impressive performance! Both crews put in strong performances and will be tearing up the Isis throughout the year!

What. A. Campaign.
We are immensely proud of everyone in the club who stepped up this Summer Viiis, here is a breakdown of how we got on:

W1: W1 went +3. After starting at the top of division 2, the week started with a bump from new I, but they came back with a vengeance on day 2, bumping both Anne’s I and New I, followed by a bump on Jesus I on day 3 and finally a bump on Magdalen I on the last day, leaving them securely in division 1.

M1: M1 went +3. After a near miss from Mansfield I on day 1, they rowed over as a sandwich boat between division 2 and 3. Day 2 saw the M1 finally escape Sandwich boat status after a bump on Brasenose I. Exeter I and Queens I were both quickly bumped in the final 2 days leaving M1 in a strong position in division 2.

W2: W2 went -2. As a particularly novice crew, they showed huge resilience when rowing over on the first day, this being most of their first time racing. Two bumps in the middle of the week then only increased the determination on the final day, and they managed to row over once more despite being surrounded by crews with far more experience. They end their campaign in division 4.

M2: M2 went +3. After an unlucky first day with the four crews above the bumping out, yet finishing the race only 3 lengths behind the crew 5 infront, M2 dominated division seven. Bumping exceedingly quickly on the last 3 days, M2 were able to showcase their technique, power and most importantly their style with their iconic blue hats and sunglasses.

This has been a difficult year due to the lack of water time. Everyone cox and rower in SJCBC has had to step up to a particularly difficult challenge and for that we thank you. We look forward to next year, hopefully with a little more water time!
